Michel's musical journey began at a very early age, gravitating to the records his parents would play in the household and on the radio. His early affinity also came from seeing his dad, Frank Michel Sr. playing guitar and drums, who too has a long passion and history as a musician.

From learning guitar, piano and drums/percussion in his early years to currently owning and operating a professional recording studio, Michel is an extremely well rounded musician with a passion for creativity. His unique experience has taken him from a self taught rock musician, to college graduate where he studied latin, jazz and classical. Always composing, writing and producing music, his touring and performance took him full circle playing lead guitar in rock bands: Burning Bettie and Hollace. These projects through circumstance evolved into the band “Hover” out of Coachella Valley, CA which is fronted by Michel.

Engineering, mixing and mastering is the space where Michel feels his passions and talents are fully realized and executed.  In a world where the concepts of “faster”, “easier” and “cheaper” are pushed as gospel, Michel has maintained reason with one driving goal: to create music without compromise. This ideal spearheads his pursuit as a professional audio engineer, studio owner, songwriter and producer.

“I've always wanted to recreate the sounds that I heard on my favorite records and through this journey I've come to realize more and more that the sounds I was trying to get out of my head weren't necessarily “magic”, but in fact quantifiable. They just happen to be extremely sophisticated, utilizing an unmatched set of tools.”

“There's a lot of misinformation thrown out "online" to make you believe that simply you and your computer can achieve such sounds, and I started my "mixing" career this way. Only now, looking back can I say that it was (and "is") simply a lie brought on by people trying to sell you products. “

In 2018, Michel & the members of “Hover” founded The Sound Hub in Cathedral City, CA. It was originally going to solely be a place where the band could rehearse. This quickly evolved into a rehearsal / recording studio that served not only a much in-need local community, but national and touring acts alike.

Although The Sound Hub has had to evolve due to the Covid 19 pandemic, Michel prides himself saying that it is one of the very few recording studios that operate on a truly hybrid set-up, utilizing classic studio hardware gear for tracking, mixing and mastering. The rehearsals have stopped at "The Hub", but the engineering and production have soared and risen to a level that he could have only ever dreamed of.

As a producer, Michel is able to wield the sum of his talents. Injecting the right tools and techniques into a project is his approach in a pursuit of adding elements that are undeniably timeless. This becomes the perfect marriage of technical and creative, bringing his decades of appreciation and study of many types of music to the table.

Frank Michel Is currently taking on projects for Mixing and Mastering.
